Tuesday will be in the light of the Dutch business and heritage. In the morning, presentation session 1 will be given in the Aula. In the afternoon, the programme will be filled with two different tours. When registrating for POAC you can give your preference for one of the two tours.

Technical Tour: Research Institute MARIN
The technical tour will visit Marin, Maritime Research Institute Netherlands. Research institute MARIN is a provider of advanced expertise and independent research to the maritime industry. Using the newest test facilities and simulators and working together with an extensive innovation and research network we achieve our goal: the development of cleaner, safer and smarter ships and sustainable use of the sea.More information regarding their facilities, research and projects can be found on their website: Marin.

Heritage Tour: Maeslantkering and Kinderdijk
The heritage tour will visit two iconic locations, both very important for the continuous fight against the water. First this tour will visit the Maeslantkering, which is the storm surge barrier on the Nieuwe Waterweg in South Holland. It is one of the largest moving structures on earth and automatically closes when Rotterdam is threatened by floods. Maeslantkering.
Next this tour will visit Kinderdijk, an Unesco World Heritage. A typical Dutch environment with many wind mills, which shows you how the Dutch have been living, struggling, and working with the water that defines the Netherlands. To keep our feet dry, we have been working together in our district water boards for centuries. Kinderdijk.
